Looking through the coating with a TEM (transmission electron microscope) reveals the structure of the Carzin coating. The above TEM image clearly shows the nodular structure of Carzin . Both cubic and hexagonal polytypes of diamond are known to be present. The scale marker corresponds to about 1% of the thickness of a human hair. The cobblestone-like structure is at such a small scale that the coatings are mirror smooth. |
